Terrain

This is what we plan for Cerkno Cup 2026 edition:

Stage 1, Vojsko - middle: challenging karst terrain with nice forest, many depressions and some big rocks

Stage 2, Cerkno - sprint: typical old town, with narrow streets and some steep open parts

Stage 3, Cerkno (Lamk) - middle: map offers us a hilly cotinental terrain with many paths and steep uphills that gives the runner a great opprtunity for choosing the best routechoice

Stage 4, Pokojiš?e (new map) - shortened long: a new karst map with good visibility and runnability. This will be a perfect way to finish the competition.

The exact locations of Arenas will be published in the Bulletin before the race.

Q: What was the most interesting orienteering terrain you ran in 2018 and why? Cerkno Cup! After the World Champs I travelled to Slovenia and ran Cerkno Cup. It was held in very beautiful and challenging karst terrain. We were warmly welcomed by the organisers and the quality of mapping/course setting was world class. It would be nice to see a World Cup or World championships in Slovenia soon!Tim Robertson
